The Kinetic Formula

Literacy + Service = Faster Progress

Kinetic is built on a simple insight: when older students help younger students learn to read, the impact moves in both directions.

Younger readers gain fluency and confidence through consistent practice.

Older students deepen their own reading comprehension, engagement, and sense of responsibility by showing up regularly to help someone else learn.

This model was proven in practice at a rural Utah high school, where weekly, in-school reading support led not only to gains for early readers—but to dramatic improvement among the high school volunteers themselves. Reading comprehension doubled, and the number of students reading below grade level dropped by 3x over one year.

What made this work was not a new curriculum or technology. It was a simple structure, rooted in dignity, built into the school day, and repeated consistently over time.

Kinetic exists to help schools replicate this approach intentionally—using the time, people, and assessments they already have—to build literacy momentum that compounds year after year.
